Who are we?
IEEE GRSS Poland Chapter is the first chapter in Poland of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) – a worldwide organization bringing together people working in remote sensing in the broad sense and in geospatial data analysis.
Our community brings together researchers, students and industry representatives who work jointly on projects based on satellite, radar, drone and other remote sensing data. Together we are building a forum for the exchange of knowledge, methods and technologies, so that we can better understand the processes taking place on Earth and respond to them more effectively.
IEEE GRSS Poland Chapter is a place where science meets practice, and where we combine global IEEE standards with local challenges in Poland.
Our mission and goals
As IEEE GRSS Poland Chapter, we want to promote new technologies and methodologies and to support innovation in remote sensing, data processing and the modeling of environmental phenomena that contribute to the protection and sustainable use of Earth’s resources. We strive to integrate different communities, bringing together specialists from many fields and jointly developing novel solutions that find application in both science and practice.
We believe that education and the development of young professionals are crucial to the future of remote sensing and geoinformatics. That is why we organize workshops, training courses and thematic sessions that teach spatial data analysis. We also pursue our goals by building a network of contacts between engineers, researchers and practitioners, enabling the exchange of experience and the transfer of knowledge.
Our activities include:
- developing remote sensing technologies, such as satellite image analysis, lidar data and more;
- developing advanced data processing methods, including machine learning algorithms, Big Data and environmental process modeling;
- supporting education and collaboration between researchers, students and practitioners;
- promoting local initiatives in Poland that use remote sensing technologies for resource management and environmental protection.
